In Japan,
The fox was believed in as God of the farming once.
The fox is traced to having been a symbol of an abundant harvest and the wealth.
The stone statue of the fox is installed in one set of two bodies in a Shinto shrine called "inari".

I think your strongest pieces are when you implement cultural histories, social commentaries or just your view of the world that surrounds you. However, sometimes I think your description sounds more interesting than the design itself? It's not meant to be negative, but the story doesn't quite match up with the art just yet. Regardless, it's a beautiful drawing.

Beautifully done. It gives the impression of having lots of layers; makes me want to reach out and touch it.

---Please imagine the scenery of the old Japanese crop work.

A farmer harvests rice and puts it in the storehouse.
In "Inari(god of harvests)-faith",It was thought that "Inari-God" (god of harvests) of the abundant harvest dwelled in its rice.

Inari God is symbolized by a jewel-ball called "mikubi-dama".
The thing which can open up the door of the storehouse which worships "Inari-God" to reach an abundant harvest by a power of "Inari-God" is a "key".

The "key" was considered to be the acknowledgment of the staple grains abundant harvest and emblem of the prayer gradually.

"inari-fox" came to have the key in its mouth with a jewel ball gradually.
In old Japan,The fox was regarded as a beast with ability for supernatural phenomenon.

As another example,
There is the "inari-fox" which has objet of a scroll and the rice in its mouth.:)
